Big news for Ice Age fans! Disney has officially confirmed the release date of the sixth film in the prehistoric franchise. Titled Ice Age: Boiling Point, the movie will arrive in theatres on February 5, 2027. The announcement was made during Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney in Orlando, according to Variety. The film is described as a “dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure” that takes Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat and the rest of the herd into never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World. Disney and 20th Century Animation also confirmed that fan-favorite stars Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary and Simon Pegg will reprise their iconic roles.
The last Ice Age film, Collision Course, hit theatres in 2016 and raked in $408.5 million worldwide. Since its debut in 2002, the Ice Age franchise has become one of the most successful animated series of all time, earning $3.2 billion globally and spawning four sequels, a spin-off, and several Disney+ shorts.
Ice Age wasn’t the only major update at D23. Disney also announced its next original animated feature Hexed, directed by Josie Trinidad (Zootopia) and Jason Hand (Moana 2). Produced by Roy Conli and Juan Pablo Reyes Lancaster-Jones, the film follows an awkward teenage boy and his Type-A mom who discover that his unusual quirks are actually magical powers that open the door to a hidden world of magic. Alongside Hexed, Disney teased a slate of upcoming projects, including Toy Story 5, Tron: Ares and Zootopia 2.
