Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian Bandra to Shut Amid Rs 60 Cr Fraud Case

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are facing serious fraud allegations linked to a loan-cum-investment deal worth over Rs 60 crore. In the middle of this controversy, Shetty announced that her Mumbai-based restaurant, Bastian Bandra, will permanently shut its doors this Thursday, marking what she called “the end of an era.”

Shilpa Shetty’s Announcement

Sharing the update on social media, Shetty wrote, “This Thursday marks the end of an era as we bid farewell to one of Mumbai’s most iconic destinations — Bastian Bandra. A venue that gave us countless memories, unforgettable nights, and moments that shaped the city’s nightlife now takes its final bow.”

She further added that a special farewell evening will be hosted for loyal patrons. While Bastian Bandra is closing down, Shetty assured fans that their weekly “Arcane Affair” night will continue at another outlet, Bastian at the Top, beginning next week.

About Bastian Bandra

Co-owned by Shilpa Shetty and restaurateur Ranjit Bindra, Bastian was first launched in 2016. Known for its eclectic food menu and artistic decor, the restaurant quickly became one of Mumbai’s high-profile dining and nightlife destinations. In 2023, it was relocated and reopened in Bandra, where it continued to attract celebrities and food lovers alike.

The Fraud Case Against Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra

According to reports, Mumbai businessman Deepak Kothari filed a case against the couple in connection with Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, a now-defunct company. Kothari alleged that between 2015 and 2023, over Rs 60 crore that was meant for business growth was misappropriated for personal use.

Kothari, director of Lotus Capital Financial Services, claimed the couple’s actions led to financial losses. The case is currently being investigated by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in Mumbai.

Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s lawyer, Prashant Patil, dismissed the allegations as “baseless,” stating that the matter was civil in nature and had already been adjudicated by the NCLT Mumbai in October 2024.

What’s Next

While Bastian Bandra will close, Shetty hinted at continuing the brand’s legacy with other outlets, keeping alive the spirit of the restaurant chain that has been a significant part of Mumbai’s nightlife for nearly a decade.
